Poloismz is the DJ and founder behind come-unity productions and co-founder of Elevate Saturdays — Edmonton's bi-weekly house night. Working across house, deep house, and the textures between, their sets are built around feel rather than formula: reading the room, building slow, going deep.
Bilingual, rooted in Edmonton, and shaped by a background that runs from music education to community building — every Elevate Saturday is a direct extension of that; a space that feels like it belongs to the people in it, not just the person behind the decks.
Poloismz (Marco) is an Edmonton-based DJ whose sound was forged in the late-night transmissions of CFNY 102.9 Toronto — where Chris Sheppard and Deadly Headly introduced him to the full spectrum of house and electronic music in 1988. It left a permanent mark — shaping not only his taste, but the way he moves through the world. From that first spark, electronic music became a constant: a place to reset, to explore, and to feel connected to something bigger than himself across genres, eras, and dance floors.
Performing under the name DJ Marco Polo, he was best known for Acid Techno while also leaning into Progressive House and Trance. Along the way, he held down sets at spots like Backroom Vodka Bar and The Apartment (later known as WunderBar), and could be heard in the city's after-hours circuit at venues such as The Studio, Therapy, and Climaxx. He currently holds a bi-weekly residency at Cask & Barrel as the founder of Elevate Saturdays — a growing Edmonton institution dedicated to good people, good music, and the communities that form around both.
Today, Poloismz Radio is recognized for wide-ranging, thoughtfully curated selections that move fluidly through artists, textures, and tempos — always in pursuit of that unmistakable underground essence. More than just playing records, his mission is to help strengthen the community within house music's own ecosystem: creating spaces where dancers, DJs, producers, and listeners feel welcomed, energized, and part of something living.
Favorite producers and artists featured in his mixes include 1-800 Girls, Bad Snacks, BIBIO, Bella Boo, Lone, Ross From Friends, and many many more.
The floor is yours. I'm just the one who got here first.
Sets typically move from warm, vocal-driven deep house through to rolling, minimal-leaning grooves — tempo staying tight around 110–128 BPM. Chicago soul house influence on one end, Detroit techno swing on the other. Never pre-planned. Always live, always reactive.
Playlists, artists, and records that shape the sound — what's on rotation on & off the clock.
